Extending the bandwidth of a seismic signal is an important way to improve the resolution of seismic data. In this abstract, we extend the bandwidth of seismic data via a harmonic prediction scheme. After decomposing the seismic signal to different frequencies by continuous complex wavelet transform, we can define the basic frequency and the fundamental frequency band width, and predict the harmonics from the available bandwidth. The resolution of the seismic data will be enhanced after adding the harmonics into the data. This method can also extend the low frequencies by adding subharmonics. We use the harmonic prediction method to process a real seismic dataset from Shengli oilfield in East China. By adding harmonics and sub-harmonics to the seismic data, we extend the low frequencies and high frequencies effectively. The resolution of the seismic data is enhanced without decreasing the signal-to-noise ratio.Presentation Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2019Session Start Time: 1:50 PMPresentation Start Time: 3:05 PMLocation: Poster Station 9Presentation Type: PosterKeywords: high-resolution, broadband, low frequency, signal processing, waveletPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3214588.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2019ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2019 Pages: 5407 publication data© 2019 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 10 Aug 2019 CITATION INFORMATION Qing Wei, Shuangquan Chen, Libin Liu, and Xiangyang Li, (2019), "Extending high and low frequencies by predicting harmonics and sub-harmonics," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 4092-4096. https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3214588.1 Plain-Language Summary Keywordshigh-resolutionbroadbandlow frequencysignal processingwaveletPDF DownloadLoading ...
