An Adaptive Multicast Bandwidth Allocation Mechanism in TDM-WDM PONs

In this paper, an adaptive bandwidth allocation mechanism is proposed for the efficiency of multicast services in TDM WDM PONs. First, in the downstream direction, analyze data collision of ONUs between different wavelengths as the mixed integer linear programming model, and solve it by the heuristic algorithm that assigns correlated ONU's assignment to wavelengths. Next, calculate adaptive weights allocation between multicast sessions to guarantee the fairness. Simulation results show that this mechanism can achieve better bandwidth utilization and higher throughput when the traffic load is heavy
