•The Huayangchuan granitic rocks dated at ca. 1.8 Ga, ca. 233 Ma and ca. 132 Ma.•The granite pegmatite is locally associated with the Huayangchuan uranium mineralization.•The granodiorite is consistent with the main mineralization of the Huayangchuan deposit.•The Huayangchuan granitic rocks are mainly sourced from the Taihua Group.
