Background and Aims: DNA methylation (DNAme) is stable but reversible epigenetic modification, which determines cell type specificity, and can be disturbed in atherosclerosis. We analyzed DNAme in carotid atherosclerotic plaques (CAP) and peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) of patients to identify epigenetic patterns of leukocyte infiltration.
