Abstract
In this paper, the application of the Method of Moments (MoM) to model electric machines is considered. This includes a description of the input/unknown formulation as well as a method to calculate electromagnetic torque. In addition, due to the relatively small number of unknowns compared to Finite Element Analysis, a focus is placed on demonstrating its usefulness in a multi-objective machine design/optimization of a permanent magnet synchronous machine, in which a discrete body-of-revolution solver is used to reduce the computation time.
