Phytochemical analysis of Linaria purpurea (L.) Mill. and inhibitory activity on the production of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in Aspergillus flavus Link. of one of its metabolites, antirrhinoside

•The phytochemical composition of Linaria purpurea (L.) Mill. was investigated.•Seven compounds of three different natural substances classes were isolated.•Five compounds were reported for the firs time in the family, genus and species.•Chemosystematic and ethnopharmacological relevance of the results were discussed.•Antirrhinoside was found to inhibit the production of aflatoxin B1 in Aspergillus flavus Link.
