Investigation of electrodialysis configurations for vinasse desalting and potassium recovery

•Vinasse desalting and potassium recovery by ED was investigated.•The contribution of vinasse pretreatment by ultrafiltration was assessed.•3 ED configurations using non- and monovalent ion selective membrane were studied.•72% of K+ was recovered by mixed ED configuration.•ED desalted vinasse can be used for biomethanization or fertigation.
