Temporal dynamics of soil fungal communities after partial and total clear-cutting in a managed Pinus sylvestris stand

•Soil fungal communities change across five years after clear-cutting of trees.•Relative abundance of ectomycorrhizal fungi decreases after clear-cutting.•Relative abundance of soil fungal saprotrophs increases after clear-cutting.•Total and partial clear-cutting similarly change soil fungal composition.•Fungal diversity was not affected by the clear-cutting treatments.
