Digital Shadow Platform as an Innovative Business Model

Thanks to digitization and trends such as cyber-physical systems (CPS), there is a constant growth of possibilities to optimize production processes based on collected production data. Already in the engineering phase, a lot of data and models are generated that are often not used any more during real operation. This fact is, in some cases, due to technical problems, but also to the missing exchange of the various stakeholders involved in the production process. We therefore describe a possibility to link the models created for virtual commissioning with the data created during real production. On this basis, we present a possibility how the connected data can create the basis for innovative business models. The digital shadow platform thereby serves as an intermediary which enables an efficient exchange of value between different stakeholders.
