摘要

•Vacuum distillation-extraction was employed to isolate essential oil from oregano.•The yield of essential oil increased by 8% compared with conventional method.•Thymol, carvacrol, and p-cymene were the main chemicals in essential oil.•Essential oil obtained by vacuum extraction showed better antibacterial activity.
