Abstract
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is a large kidney transplant unit in Australia which performs >140 transplant operations annually. Approximately half of all RMH kidney transplant recipients (KTxRs) live in regional and rural areas and so have to travel significant distances for clinical review. Telehealth, in the form of video consultations, can improve convenience and access to care while maintaining quality and managing costs despite rising caseloads. However, only very limited data exist regarding its use in KTxRs.
