Abstract
•The multilayers loaded with CIP could be formed on Mg alloys by LbL assembly.•The multilayers could promote the hydrothermal fabrication of HAp coating.•The (CIP/PAH)10/CIP-HAp coating could decrease the corrosion rate of Mg alloys.•The coating showed antibacterial property and a prolonged release profile for CIP.•The obtained coating showed acceptable biocompatibility to MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts.
