Abstract
CSP is proved to be an effective way to produce high carbon high strength steel strip with reduced cost and good quality. A kind of high carbon high strength low alloy steel strip was developed at Lianyuan Steel. The steel 65Mn with the carbon content of 0.65% had yield strength 490MPa, tensile strength 870MPa and elongation 18%. The strength of 65Mn produced by CSP was appromximately 40% larger than that produced by traditional process. Observations of electron microscopy revealed that the microstructures of the strip consisted of fine-grained ferrite and pearlite. Nano sized pearlite lamellar spacing was observed in the steel strip. Compared with the conventional process, the grain size of the steel strip produced by CSP was much smaller. Fine and dispersed precipitations were also observed in the as-rolled specimens.
