Abstract
In order to improve our contribution in the field of main-group-semiconductor cluster compounds we present the synthesis and structural characterization of [p-Me2NC6H4Se]2 (1) and [Cu6In2(PPh3)2(µ-SeR)6(µ3-SeR)4Br(Br0.35/{SeR}0.65)] (2)—in which R = p-Me2NC6H4. X-ray analysis of 2 indicated that the single crystals obtained from the reaction of InBr, [p-Me2NC6H4Se]2, and Cu(PPh3)Br are formed by 35% of the compound with the molecular formula [Cu6In2(PPh3)2(µ-SeR)6(µ3-SeR)4Br2)] and 65% of the compound with the molecular formula [Cu6In2(PPh3)2(µ-SeR)6(µ3-SeR)4BrSeR]. The existence of two different molecular cluster compounds in the same crystal structure is a rare kind of multi-component co-crystal for this class of compounds. Additionally, the band-gap energy of 2 was estimated by UV–vis spectroscopy in the solid state.
