Mo1041 INHIBITORY EFFECT OF SALINE DISPERSION ON COLONIC SPASM DURING COLONOSCOPY: A POST-HOC ANALYSIS
GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY(2019)
Abstract
A previous multicenter, double-blind, randomized clinical trial demonstrated that topical lidocaine suppressed colorectal spasm during colonoscopy. About one-half of patients in the control group (receiving room temperature saline) did not have colon spasm during the observation period. This suggests that saline dispersion may inhibit intestinal spasm. We performed a post hoc analysis of the data, focusing on the control group to determine the effect of saline.
