802 EARLY PRECUT SPHINCTEROTOMY AND RISK OF ERCP RELATED COMPLICATIONS: AN UPDATED META-ANALYSIS

Deep biliary cannulation can fail in 5-10% of patients during ERCP. Precut sphincterotomy has emerged as a rescue technique. However, precut sphincterotomy has been associated with higher complications after ERCP in some studies, especially post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP). More recent studies have reported lower risk of complications with early precut sphincterotomy. We performed an updated meta-analysis of all published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the safety and cannulation rates with early precut sphincterotomy.
