Abstract
Early gastric cardiac cancer (EGCC) is common in China but has low risk of lymph node metastasis, as revealed in our recent multicenter clinicopathologic study (Mod Pathol. 2018 May 25. doi: 10.1038/s41379-018-0063-1). At present, we have successfully used the endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) technique to resect EGCC at our center, despite technical challenges for a complete resection in a confined space. Because of limited experience in few published studies with small case number on complications and prognosis of ESD-resected EGCC, we aimed in the current study to evaluate the short-term outcomes and long-term outcomes as well as risk factors for non-curative resection of EGCC in a large cohort of Chinese patients.
