Damage control orthopedics and decreased in-hospital mortality: A nationwide study.

•DCO was associated with decreased in-hospital mortality in patients with major fractures in a nationwide database.•Survival analyses showed that DCO was independently associated with decreased mortality in patients with major fractures.•Results were robust in several analyses such as propensity score matching, inverse probability weighting and logistic regression.
