The role of peripheral corticotropin-releasing factor signaling in a rat model of stress-induced gastric hyperalgesia.

•Repeated WA-S causes gastric hyperalgesia to develop in rats.•Gastric hyperalgesia was inhibited by CRF2 receptor antagonist.•CRF2 receptor positive cells increased in number after repeated WA-S.•CRF2 and UCN2 cells were expressed in mast cells in the lamina propria of the stomach.•Gastric hyperalgesia induced by WA-S was inhibited by IL-6 neutralizing antibody.
