Abstract
•Synergistic effects were obtained by combining US with PMS.•Both PMS activation and constituent salts in Oxone contributed to the improvement.•The synergy depended on ultrasonic frequency, PMS dosage and property of pollutants.•More acidic pH was beneficial to the US/PMS process.•US/PMS process demonstrated stronger mineralization capability than US process.
