Abstract

•20 STRs provide good separation of true and false paternity/full-sibling matches.•When added to 20STRs, SE33 provides further distinction between true and false matches.•We demonstrated that the LR method performed better than the IBS method.•Combination of LR and IBS method cannot improve the LR method efficiency.•The paper provides a demonstration on a real database.
