Abstract
•The Bi(III) containing oxides with QDs or 2D structures are explored as antichlors.•The Cl− ions in leachate can be partially or completely removed.•The Cl− removal rate of Bi25FeO40/Bi12TiO20 is higher than that of Bi2O3.•The terminal precipitates after Cl− recovery possess Bi2O3/BiOCl heterostructure.
