•Moving to Opportunity (MTO) is a randomized study of housing vouchers.•MTO offers an opportunity to study the social determinants of reproductive health.•We examined childbearing among 13–30 year olds.•MTO had no effect on teen births for the youth sample (<20 years old) at follow-up.•MTO reduced intergenerational teen births by 21% among the young adult sample.
