Workshop: Using Gwyneth Paltrow, Kyrie Irving, and Donald Trump (among Others) to Teach Science Communication: Case Studies for Your Classroom

Science and engineering impacts the public in multiple ways, and communicating with these audiences is an essential skill for success. Unfortunately, finding space in the curriculum for teaching science communication – in addition to technical/engineering communication – can be challenging. This workshop using a mixture of lecture, group discussion, and group activities – will introduce attendees to a number of recent, relevant, and engaging case studies in science communication, providing them with the materials, references, and tools to integrate them into their own teaching contexts.
