摘要

•Whole cell biotransformation of steroids using Circinella muscae was reported.•Microbial hydroxylation of progesterone and testosterone enanthate were tested.•8β,14α-Dihydroxytestosterone was obtained as a new metabolite from biotransformation.•By using Circinella muscae, C8 hydroxylation of testosterone is accessible.
