A Theory of Applied Mind of Programming: Understanding the challenges in learning to program

摘要
Computer Science teaching and education research often struggles to explain a novice programmer's struggles. This dissertation creates a theoretical framework utilizing cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and learning theory to describe the mind of the programmer and the gap novices must bridge. The resulting theory of applied mind for programming can provide greater explanatory power in research and guide assessment and pedagogical approaches.
