Outcomes of intraoperative radiotherapy for early-stage breast cancer: Experience from a multidisciplinary breast oncology program.

•Many breast cancer patients have difficult access to whole breast radiation therapy.•Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) is an alternative radiation modality.•IORT is safe and effective in select early stage breast cancer patients.•Locally recurrent breast cancer is usually managed with completion mastectomy.•Lumpectomy and IORT may serve as an alternative to completion mastectomy.
