Transient simulation of a hybrid photovoltaic-thermoelectric system using a phase change material

•An unsteady-two dimensional numerical model for hybrid PV-TEG and PV-TEG-PCM systems is developed.•Enthalpy-porosity technique has been applied for PCM modeling.•PV efficiency, TEG efficiency and TEG electric current in both hybrid systems are presented.•Effect of variations of PCM thickness on the temperature and efficiency of the system are presented.•The amount of thermal storage and its variation in the PCM are presented.
