•A new method of selectively recognizing melamine and cyanuric acid by supramolecular interactions of gelation.•Chirality inversion and amplification was observed for LPF-co-CA and LPF-co-MA systems respectively.•Highly stable LPF-co-MA and LPF-co-CA gels were obtained in comparison to the LPF alone.
