Identification of lipopeptides from Bacillus strain Q11 with ability to inhibit the germination of Penicillium expansum, the etiological agent of postharvest blue mold disease

•B. subtilis Q11 produced a lipopeptide mixture containing iturins and fengycins.•Lipopeptide fraction showed mycelial growth inhibition of soil-borne pathogens.•Lipopeptides caused swelling of P. expansum conidia, reducing their germination.•Lipopeptides application in apple fruit reduced rot caused by P. expansum.
