Abstract
•Magnetocaloric effect of single crystal GdTiO3 was studied.•GdTiO3 had a 2nd order transition from paramagnetic to ferrimagnetic state at 33 K.•A small anisotropy was found in the magnetization and specific heat.•The magnetization showed no hysteresis.•Entropy-temperature diagram of the single crystal GdTiO3 was obtained.•GdTiO3 has the potential as a magnetic refrigerant for hydrogen liquefaction.
