The core-shell structured Fe-based amorphous magnetic powder cores with excellent magnetic properties

•The uniform TiO2 insulating coating layer was successfully fabricated.•The process of nucleation and growth of TiO2 coating layer were explored.•Excellent magnetic properties were achieved for the FeSiBCCr/TiO2 composite cores.•The soft magnetic performance of the composite cores can be well tuned.
