Protonated DABCO is locked in the cage skeleton and can only be released from the cubic cage and oxidized by the ClO4− when heating temperature is higher than 370 °C. This confined effect from the inorganic cage skeleton rendered (C6H14N2)[NH4(ClO4)3] super thermal stability which was different from traditional organic energetic materials.
