Short-term safety of tranexamic acid use in posterior cervical decompression and fusion surgery.

•There were no intra- or post-operative thromboembolic or cardiovascular events in the TXA group.•Some studies suggest that high doses of TXA may increase the risk of seizures, none of our patients experienced seizures.•Intra-operative blood loss showed no statistically significance difference between the TXA and control group.•Post-operative blood loss was reduced in the TXA group compared to the control group.•Surgical time was significantly reduced in cases that TXA was administered.
