•Hc-TeTx caused dose-dependent antidepressant effect in WKY rat model of depression.•Hc-TeTx caused an increase in hippocampal and frontal cortical levels of BDNF.•Hc-TeTx caused a decrease in hippocampal and frontal cortical levels of TNF-Alpha.•The results suggest potential usefulness of Hc-TeTx in PD-Depression co-morbidity.
