A longitudinal traveling wave piezoelectric transformer

•A new topology of piezoelectric transformer is proposed based on a traveling wave.•The transformer outputs a multi-phases system.•An analytical modelling allows to predict its electrical performances.•Experimental validation is performed on a hollow thin cylinder.•Power of 6.5 W and efficiency of 90% are achieved with the transformer.
