Temperament correlates in adult ADHD: A systematic review★★

•People with ADHD have high scores for novelty seeking and harm avoidance on the TCI.•Low scores for persistence on the TCI are also associated with ADHD symptoms.•ADHD and bipolar disorder share high TEMPS-A scores in all domains except for hyperthymia.•ADHD patients have high scores for affective temperaments as measured with the TEMPS-A.•Association between ADHD and temperament traits occurs also without a comorbid mood disorder.
