Abstract
Workers' unsafe behaviour is the immediate reason for accidents, as well as the primary cause. To manage coal miners' unsafe behaviours, the JD-R model was tailored to investigate this subject, and it was developed qualitatively initially and then verified by employing a meta-analysis quantitatively in the Chinese context. Thus, a revised model was created with Job Demands (JD) and Job Resources (JR), both involving four sub-factors, strain and motivations factors respectively containing two and five sub-factors, five confirmed hypotheses and one contrary hypothesis, which could explain the miners' unsafe behaviour from the JD-R model and theory perspective. The paper then presents ideas for dual process management to intervene in coal miners’ unsafe behaviours based on environment/organization-occupational psychology-behaviour processes in Chinese coal mines, and some specific and workable suggestions are provided.
