Linearity and non-linearity analysis of isotherms and kinetics for ibuprofen remotion using superheated steam and acid modified biochar

•Steam and chemically (H3PO4) activated biochar was used for ibuprofen remotion.•Isotherm and kinetic were studied on ibuprofen sorption by linear and non-linear model.•Non-linear model was preferable over linear model towards sorption study.•Desorption and cost estimation study favoured the efficiency of the adsorbents.
