Light scattering by 3-Foci convex and concave particles in the geometrical optics approximation

•Geometrical optics approximation is applied to light scattering from N-foci ellipsoids.•3-foci ellipsoids that may have both convex and concave shapes are considered.•Phase dependences for different scattering orders including internal reflection were calculated.•It was found for non-spherical particles the total internal reflections are very significant.
