Abstract
•This study demonstrated that laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is associated with a reduction in adipokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines in the setting of obesity-related glucose dysregulation.•The study demonstrates that laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is associated with a reduction in plasma oxidative stress.•There is a close association between markers of glucose regulation with changes in leptin and markers of inflammation.
