Infrared absorption cross-sections in HITRAN2016 and beyond: Expansion for climate, environment, and atmospheric applications

•HITRAN2016 provides access to cross-sections for more than 320 molecules.•FTS-measured high- and mid-resolution data.•Access through HITRANonline web-interface (http://hitran.org) and HAPI.•Many of the molecules have multiple pressure and temperature sets.•Spectra have wide wavenumber range of atmospheric interest.
