•Wide activity temperature window with 260–430 °C in presence of H2O for Mo0.6MnTi10Ox.•Much higher activity even with SO2/H2O and high GHSV of 80,000 h−1.•More surface acidity and suitable redox derived from interaction of Mo and Mn oxides.•E-R mechanism in activity temperature window due to much weaker NOx adsorption.
