Abstract
The aim this study was to evaluate the effects of fungi based on Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin and Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin (Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae) strain Ma143 (M. anisopliae), strain Ma65 (M. anisopliae), and strain Bb122 (B. bassiana) on natural parasitism by Anagyrus kamali (Moursi) (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) at concentration of 1 x 10(8) conidia ml(-1). For each strain, five plants of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis were infested with ovisacs of Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Green) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) and put in the field. The experimental design was completely randomized with 12 treatments and five replications. The parasitism by A. kamali was evaluated at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 days after the application of the fungi. The parasitism by A. kamali was not affected by both entomopathogenic fungi. Beauveria bassiana and M. anisopliae are compatible with the parasitoid A. kamali, thus allowing the association of these two forms of control.
