Rethinking the Treatment of Pathologic Scars

Over 100 million people develop a pathologic scar every year worldwide [1] Attempts to treat scars in the United States alone account for almost $15 Billion of expenditures with a large percentage of patients left with scars so symptomatic and impactful on daily life that they continue to seek treatment [2]. The Scar Free Foundation’s 2015 mandate to deliver scar free healing within a generation is a testament to the magnitude of this problem.
