A simple method for preparation of silica Aerogels Doped with monodispersed nanoparticles in homogeneous concentration

•Formation of uniform doped silica aerogel.•The silica coating of the nanoparticles prevents aggregation.•The resulting aerogels preserve the properties of the dopant.•Doping the aerogel does not affect the gelation process.•Multi-doped silica aerogels can be produced.
