Carbon emissions and potential emissions reductions from low-intensity selective logging in southwestern Amazonia
Forest Ecology and Management(2019)
Abstract
•We established baselines for carbon emissions from selective logging in Peru.•No difference in emissions were observed between certified and uncertified concessions.•Despite trees with short stems and large crowns, Peru has among the lowest emissions.•Unintended carbon emissions could be reduced by half.•The majority of emissions came from the felled tree itself and very few from roads.
