Impact of the EMediCal Application on the Efficacy of Clinical Communication Among Health Care Providers (HCP) and Nursing Home (NH) Staff

Clear and complete communication between health care providers (HCP ) is a prerequisite for the safe patient management and is a key component of the Joint Commission’s 2008 National Patient Safety Goals for Long-Term Care (LTC). There is paucity of literature addressing communication challenges and related barriers in the nursing home (NH) setting, with even less data available regarding the use of smart phone apps. An ideal communication tool would be bidirectional, rapid, secure, and capable of non-disruptive transmission with content-rich messages.
