摘要

•This paper provides a proof-of-concept to a newly proposed virtual borehole.•The Virtual Borehole (VB) is proposed for calibrating thermal response test units.•The VB mimics the thermal behavior of a real borehole installed in the ground.•A commercial thermal response test unit is successfully calibrated using the VB.
