Cr–doped ZnS semiconductor catalyst with high catalytic activity for hydrogen production from hydrogen sulfide in non-thermal plasma

•Cr-doped ZnS catalysts with various Cr/Zn ratios were prepared via co-impregnation method.•Cr doping led to enhanced decomposition of H2S in plasma.•The performance of the Cr-doped ZnS catalyst was stable in the runs.•The Cr0.20-ZnS catalyst showed the highest performance in H2S decomposition.
